Beaming out from the cover of this new CD is the rosy-cheeked 5-year-old Mozart, already a concert veteran (and later composer of the title track). A similarly joyful ambience prevails in this recording by the Seattle Violin Virtuosi, an ensemble of mostly Seattle Symphony members under the direction of violinist/conductor Michael Miropolsky. The violins are in excellent form for this reading of seven tuneful Mozart Church Sonatas, plus short pieces by Schubert, Nardini, Handel (the famous Air from "Xerxes") and several other composers.
The beautiful string sound is enhanced by guest artists Page Smith (cellist of the Northwest Chamber Orchestra) and organist Wayne Slater.
